About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver occupational therapy treatments based on the plan of care established by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Provide hands-on instruction and manual techniques to improve motor skills including transfers, feeding, grooming, dressing, and other daily living tasks.
• Monitor and assess patient progress at each visit and communicate findings to the supervising OT to support treatment adjustments for maximum benefit.
• Educate patients and their families on their role in achieving therapy goals during and after the treatment plan, including instruction on continued home exercises.
• Collaborate with the OT, physicians, and other healthcare personnel to implement intervention programs when needed.
• Review referral documents, medical history, and prior therapy notes to support treatment planning.
• Submit timely and accurate documentation of patient care using the agency’s online management system, as instructed.
• Educate patients and caregivers about what to expect during the recovery process and how to manage limitations related to injury, illness, or disability.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current and valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT).
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits.
• Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining clear communication with supervising therapists.
• Up to date Physical Health Exam and TB Testing
• Experience in home health setting preferred but NOT REQUIRED.
• Strong observational, communication, and clinical documentation skills.
